Watch Strap Removal Guide
Removing your watchstrap is extremely painless and made simple with quick release springbars that come with all BlackHound straps! By the end of this page, you will be a virtuoso in strap removal.
Watch straps With Quick Release Spring Bars
What You Need
- Watch with a strap seriously needing removal
- A soft cloth
- Some fingernails!
Instructions
- Lets begin by placing your watch dial down on a soft cloth, this way we avoid any unnecessary scratches.
- Next, orientate the watch in a way the strap you are working on has its quick release latch furthest away from you. This makes removal of the strap more intuitive.
- With 1 hand firmly grasping your watch, place your thumb against the lower lug and carefully place your index finger fingernail on the latch(wow that was weird to say).
- Without scraping any leather with your fingernail, Pull the latch towards you to remove your strap, repeat on the opposite side and… Tada!

What You Need
- Watch with a strap seriously needing removal
- A soft cloth
- A Springbar Removal Tool
Instructions
- Same as before, begin by placing your watch dial down on a soft cloth, this way we avoid any unnecessary scratches.
- Grip the watch face with 1 hand for stability & using you free hand, grab a spring bar tool and prepare your extraction
- With the spring bar tool, insert the forked side gently between the lug and strap. You will need to feel for the spring bar ridge.
- Apply a small amount of pressure to compress the spring mechanism within the spring bar. Pressure should be applied with a small pull inward towards the strap.
- Your strap should pop of the catch, repeat on other side and your done!
